2009 Orioles player profile: Adam Jones

CF #10 Adam Jones

Info- 6-2 210

8/1/1985

Acquired 2/8/08 from Seattle for LHP Erik Bedard

Under team control 5 more years

2008 stats- .270 AVG, 9 HR’s, 57 RBI’s, 10 SB, 3 CS, 132 G, 477 AB’s

Outlook- Jones was the center piece of the Bedard trade, which

the O’s acquired 4 other players, including top prospect

Chris Tillman. Jones did fairly well last year in his rookie

year, showing tons of potential. The O’s are looking toward

the bright future with Jones and Markakis playing next to

each other in the outfield for the next decade at least. Not

only does Adam show a lot of offensive potential in the

line-up with power and speed, he also flashes a ton of

potential on defense, making a lot of remarkable diving

catches in center. He also has the speed to chase down

fly balls in the gaps and make hard plays look easy. Jones

is a young player still improving. The O’s are hoping he fully

blossoms and turns into a center piece to build the franchise

around with Markakis. Look for Adam to have a breakout season

batting in the #2 hole.

2009 projection- .285 AVG, 18 HR’s, 85 RBI’s, 22 SB, 6 CS, 152 G, 570 AB’s
