Lou Montanez on a tear

Last night, Lou Montanez hit for the cycle for Bowie Baysox going 5-6 with a monstrous 8 RBI. Montanez has been having an awesome_season. So far he has 25 HR and 94 RBI.

For his career, Montanez_is_a_very_well-traveled_player. He’s still only 26. He came up as a shortstop, but after two seasons of playing there and some second base, he’s played only outfielder for the past five seasons.

The question is “why’s he still in Bowie?” Of course, if he gets called up to Baltimore chances are he won’t bring those numbers with him. You never though, he hasn’t lived_up_to_the_hype_of_a_3rd_overall_pick. If Matt Wieters had these numbers, we’d all be storming the warehouse to have him called up. On Wieters though, he has awesome numbers split between two leagues. I’ll have to look them up and piece them together.

I’m guessing if Lou keeps this up, he should get a September call up. If he does get called up, it’ll be his major league debut. Why not call him up? He’d probably be an upgrade over Jay Payton.
