It just won’t die

Phil Rogers of the Chicago Tribune says there was a huge trade and Angelos did shoot it down. There’s been so much denial from both teams that its hard to believe this.  He adds that his source says that talks are back on again.

I’ve said before and I’ll say it again. I don’t think the Cubs have enough to get bother players. They have enough to get Brian Roberts, but they don’t have enough in their farm system to get Brian Roberts AND Erik Bedard. The only way I can see this happening is if they get a third team involved.

John Hickey of the Seattle PI reports that it’s down to the Mariners and the Mets for Bedard. He also says that the Reds have dropped out because they didn’t want to part with Jay Bruce and that the Cubs are out it. So either the Cubs are trying to trade for Bedard or they aren’t now….narrows it down a bit.

Seattle, he says, is willing to trade Adam Jones but that they’re not willing to meet some of the other demands that the O’s have at this point.

Read some of the comments on this piece, the Seattle fans want Jay Gibbons as part of the trade. They’re worried though that including him might drive up the price. Trust me M’s fans, the O’s will have no problem including Gibbons without asking nothing or little in return.
