O’s pitching in the WBC

Eric Bedard and Rodrigo Lopez pitched well in their WBC debuts.
Bedard pitched 4 innings in Canada’s 11-8 win over South Africa. His line is pretty impressive,
2 hits, 2 walks, 6 strike outs, and no runs in his 4 innings of work. The only thing that keeps me from getting too excited over this was the fact that he was pitching against South Africa. Their line up isn’t anything to close to the US, Dominican, or even Italy. I’ll be more excited when he has those numbers against a more established baseball country with major leaguers on their rosters.

Rodrigo Lopez pitched 4 innings in Mexico’s 2-0 loss to the USA. He gave up 3 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, 1 strike out…which is very impressive considering he was facing the best the MLB had to offer (that didn’t pull out).

Bruce Chen’s pitching now, and thanks to a short day at work I can watch. Though he got in a little bit of a jam at the bottom of the third, but he’s had 2 really short innings. Nothing spectacular, but solid so far.

So far the starters are looking pretty good playing against some good competition. Adam Loewen pitches this afternoon against the USA, it’ll definately be an interesting game to watch.
