Watching the game tonight, first game I’ve got to watch in about a week….its been a crazy one. Anyway, Amber Theoharis said during the break that word around the team that Steve Trachsel’s spot in the rotation is being skipped on Tuesday. There has not been an announced starter for Tuesday. Trembley has met with Trachsel to discuss things. She mentioned that its likely Radhames Liz will be getting the call up. Tonight he started but only pitched the first. She started that its was apparently a planned one inning start and there was no injury.
With that being said and Liz pitching 1 inning, does Liz come up to work in the pen. That’s what I’m hoping. I’d rather see Matt Albers start and see Liz come out of the pen.
I’m not too giddy about the thought of Liz coming up. Last year he had no business being called up, but last year they were at the point were they were calling up any pitcher. I think Liz has the potential to be a good pitcher…but I’m just not a full believer that he’s going to be a big thing on the major league level just yet.
He’s 1-5 with a 4.12 ERA this season in 59 innings. The win/loss record doesn’t do him justice. The ERA is ok, but I want a player to dominate at AAA before they get the big league call. If he has a 4.12 ERA in the majors this season….I’ll be thrilled. If he had 2.50-3.00 ERA, I’d be much happier. We’ll see. This is what rebuilding is about. The team has to see what they have and if a player like Liz is someone who we can plan around longterm with. Besides, it beats seeing Trachsel go 2 innings of agony every fifth day.
*Oh, Manny Rameriez just hit homer 500 off Chad Bradford just now. Hooray. Glad to see we’ll be a part of MLB history.
