MacPhail has said that the Brian Roberts to Cubs deal “is all but dead.” That may be, but through this offseason, when has he been forthcoming to the press? Through the Bedard trade saga, he was never very chatty with the press and why should that change now.
Maybe it is dead, or maybe he’s just sending the writers off in a different direction as he talks a few more days (or months) to make this deal. At some point during this season, I think Brian Roberts will be a Cub, just not on opening day apparently.
