Jaret Wright was put on the 15 day DL list today.
From the Baltimore Sun:
One day after an examination by the team orthopedist didn’t show any new structural damage, Orioles pitcher Jaret Wright was placed on the 15-day disabled list with soreness in his right shoulder.
The Orioles recalled left-handed reliever Brian Burres from Triple-A Norfolk. Burres was supposed to make the Opening Day roster, but the Orioles optioned him to the minors before the first game to make room for backup catcher Alberto Castillo.
And of course, we add ANOTHER PITCHER in his spot. This boggles my mind. It’s a good thing we have a solid bench, so that we can afford to carry so many pitchers. I hope you can sense the sarcasm there.
In any effect, Wright is only expected to miss 2 starts and Jeremy Guthrie will more than likely fill his role. Which is fine by me.
I’m taking the night off from the impending Royals/O’s Classic tonight and will be making my first trip of the season to West End Field to see the Greenville Drive host the Columbus Catfish and enjoy some minor league minor league baseball with some friends tonight. After the last two nights, I need to enjoy a baseball game.
